Bwiti and Santo Daime: Traditional Use of Psychedelics in Tribal Societies

Abstract

Use of traditional psychedelics in the context of contemporary religious cults. The Bwiti cult based on Iboga consumptions in the Congo basin and the Santo Daime cult (and other similar groups)based on the consumption of a herbal mixed known as ayahuasca in the basin of the Amazon river.

The comparison of both cults in religious, ecological a cultural contexts - differences and similarities, question of legality and legitimity.
