Abstract
The charpter gives an overview on epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnostics and treatment of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) in pediatric age, with maximum attention paid to a group of adolescents and young adults. The differential diagnosis of MDS versus leukemia and bone marrow failure syndromes is specifically outlined.
The basic current treatment approaches are described.
