Abstract
The document summarizes the issues of mental health and research policy in Europe. It is based on the Conference of European Medical Academies in Prague in 2010, and presents the main points discussed at this meeting.
It puts into focus the issues of financing the epidemiological and neuroscience research in order to support an effort of reclassifying psychiatric disorders and developing feasible guidelines for treatment and prevention of the major mental health problems such as psychoses, dementias, mood disorders and others. The results are intended as the backgroud materials for the discussion at the level of European institutions.
