One of the goals of Computer Science Review is to publish monographic issues presenting the state of the art on an area of actual research in computer science. The present issue contains seven papers on the topic of the foundations of adaptive networked societies of artefacts.
The issue starts with an introduction by two guest editors, Ioannis Chatzigiannakis and Paul Spirakis from the Research Academic Computer Technology Institute, which gives a nice overview of the contents and the relation between the seven surveys. We would like to express our gratitude to all authors and, in particular, to the two guest editors for their enthusiasm in putting together the issue and their work in handling the refereeing process of papers.
