Anthracycline cardiotoxicity - mechanisms of development and pharmacological cardioprotection

Abstract

In this habilitation thesis an overview of current information on anthracycline cardiotoxicity, its mechanisms and possibilities of pharmacological cardioprotection is provided. The main part of this work is a collection of commented 14 selected scientific articles in which the author of this thesis is the main author or an important contributor.

These works focused on mechanisms of development of chronic anthracycline cardiotoxicity and possibilities of pharmacological cardioprotection using dexrazoxane and intracellular iron chelators are discussed herein.
