Abstract

In this paper two sites with settlement features dated to the Roman Age Period are analyzed. Both of them come from rescue excavations carried out in the region of north-western Bohemia.

Besides features of settlement activities, traces of funeral activities were found as well. They encompass inhumation graves, both human and animal (dog).

Analyzed material from both sites, ceramic sherds in particular, allows us to consider several chronological phases, each represented by a small portion of features. That leads to teh assumption of continuous dwelling activities, represented by a quite small communities living in this area.

Besides qualitative analysis, also quantitative evaluation of ceramic fragments was made in an effort to understand borh original function and way of cessation of settlement features.
