Abstract
Objectives. The article introduces the Czech version of the ZTPI - Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory.
The results of 2030 respondents are compared to those from the original American version as well as to results of translated versions, namely, the Lithuanian, French and Spanish translations of ZTPI. The attention is focused on the psychometric qualities of the questionnaire.
Subjects and setting. The Czech version of the ZTPI - Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory was administered in 2003 and 2008 to representative samples in the Czech Republic (N2003=992; N2008=1038).
Statistical analysis. The internal consistency (Cronbach alpha) was investigated and the questionnaire structure was verified by a confirmatory factor analysis.
Additionally, a detailed item analysis and an exploratory factor analysis were performed. Results.
The internal consistency (Cronbach alpha) of individual scales ranged from 0.66 to 0.85. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed some discrepancies between the obtained Czech data and the questionnaire structure; these results were comparable to those obtained by the culturally closest, Lithuanian, version of ZTPI.
Several problematical items were identified (some of the items were reported to be less predictable also in other translated versions). Detailed analyses helped to explain occasional unexpected empirical manifestation, they mostly concerned items with a lower weight in the original version of ZTPI.
The authors conclude that despite some irregularities this Czech version of ZTPI is suitable for both psychological research and practical applications.
