Abstract

We present studies of the performance of jet reconstruction algorithms with full GEANT simulation of the ATLAS detector. Simulated jets from PYTHIA are embedded into the heavy ion background from HIJING.

The results on the jet energy and position resolutions of the ATLAS calorimeter system for different centralities of the PbPb collisions are shown. The energy resolution of single reconstructed jets is better than 20% at 100 GeV.

We also present ATLAS capability for measurement of jet energy profiles, fragmentation functions and transverse jet structure.
