''Prague, Prague, you treshold of our salvation and faith''. About Clemens Brentanos play ''Die Gründung Prags'' (''The Founding of Prague'')
Abstrakt
The aricle shows that Clemens Brentanos "Die Gründung Prags" presents the early days of Bohemia marked by myth and magic and tries to re-present these times. But such representation of nature-poetry can only succeed as art-poetry.
Precisely for this reason Brentano pushes history and myth, history and romanticism, the "Aufschreibesystem" ("Discourse Networks" [Friedrich Kittler]) 1800 and 1900 together. In this way he also applies to a Prague-specific topos.
What other city is founded in a poetic vision? And what other city has the transition between legend and history, nature and culture in his name ("Praha" means threshold)? So Prague promises more than other cities to show a reminder of the early legendary, natural-poetic, mythic dimension.
