Abstract

The paper distinguishes symbol from sign and argues that symbol indicates an ontological assessment. The basic feature of the symbol is that it is alive.

It appeals to us, expresses and reveals the elusive rationally, logically and verbally inexpressible elusive. The author distinguishes authentic and non-authentic symbol in the modern form of philosophical reflection.

The author explains the philosophical basis of teaching- symbol in the work of Comenius.
