The present and perspectives of pharmacogenetics of antipsychotic treatment

Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové |
2011

Abstract

Pharmacogenetics is a scientific discipline seeking for associations between the genetic code of the patient and his or her treatment effectiveness or drug adverse effects. It should contribute to a better individuation of pharmacotherapy.

Contemporary research of antipsychotic drugs is aimed at pharmacokinetics as well as pharmacodynamics. The results of most of the papers are not consistent very much.

The pharmacokinetic tests are usually used in the clinical practice as against the pharmacodynamic ones.
