Abstract
The article is concerned with those obstacles to the process of European integration that originate in the cultural differences among European societies. It discusses specifically the cultural obstacles to the integration of the post-communist countries into the EU.
Particular attention is given to the phaenomenon of cultural spill-back which, it is argued, might occur in the whole EU as a consequence of the enlargement.
