Abstract

The book contains records from an expedition journal kept by the members of the geoarchaeological expedition of the Czech Institute of Egyptology (Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague) and the Institute of Geology (Czech Academy of Sciences) to the Sabaloka mountain range and the area of the Sixth Nile Cataract. The authentic records made during the fieldwork as well as the comparative study of different landscape types of northern Sudan are supplemented by texts presenting the main periods of prehistory and history of Sudan together with an overview of the documented evidence dating to the respective periods noted in the area of the Czech concession.
