Publication at Faculty of Science |
2011

Abstract

The stereoscopy is a method for creating or enhancing the illusion of depth in an image by presenting two offset images separately to the left and right eye of the viewer. Stereoscopy is a perspective method of visualization for educational purposes in various branches of science education.

Hence, in a framework of this contribution, some new educational movies on chemistry are presented as well as an evaluation of those movies made by more than 80 pupils of grammar and high schools. Especially, 3D effect, the content of the movie and the presentation were the most important parameters of the evaluation.

Created stereoscopic movies were considered as good by a majority of pupils with regard to the parameters which were followed. The effect of 3D movie on the acquired knowledge was also preliminarily tested in comparison to a lab work and presentation.

It was shown that a presentation of stereoscopic movies can be a suitable alternative way of presentation of some chemistry facts.
