Outdoor school is a stable element of Czech educational system. However, many changes have occurred during last twenty years, which refer to purposes of outdoor schools and to their organization.
The article presents the global school statistic information and the results of research which included questionnaire for elementary schools in Prague and the case study of two classes. The study found out that the outdoor school is getting shorter, the budget for outdoor schools is reducing, the price of outdoor school for parents is increasing.
Because of high price almost 20 % of pupils can not attend the outdoor school. Nevertheless, to create a better social climate in peer group is the main purpose of outdoor school in opinion of teachers, pupils and parents.
Because of high absence this goal is partly invalid. Other purpose should be a better knowing between teachers and children.
This goal is invalid as well because many schools rent a commercial agency today which inhibits common time of pupils and teachers.
