Abstract

Food allergy is the most frequent cause of anaphylaxis in children. The probability of fatal outcome is higher if anaphylaxis occurs in the patient with a history of asthma and in the case of omission or delay in giving adrenalin injection.

Intramuscular adrenalin (epinephrine) is the acknowledged first-line therapy for anaphylaxis, in hospital and in the community.
