Intermetallic compounds R2RhIn8 are structurally related to a class of Ce-based heavy-fermion superconductors. Study of their magnetic structure and behavior is important for understanding mechanism of the unconventional heavyfermion superconductivity.
We have successfully prepared compounds with R =Tb, Dy and Ho. They exhibit antiferromagnetic behavior with the Neel temperature of 43, 25 and 11 K, respectively.
Magnetization and specific heat measurements have revealed metamagnetic transitions to another antiferromagnetic phase at fields 11.5, 4.3 and 2.5 T, respectively
