Strong differences in the clonal variation of two Daphnia species from mountain lakes affected by overwintering strategy

Abstract

We studied clonal variation in Daphnia populations from six mountain lakes, and found that overwintering populations are dominated by single clones, while those surviving as dormant eggs have high diversity.
