Abstract

Recently, titanium oxide nanotubes and nanowires have been prepared by different techniques. Unfortunately, their structure (nanotubes and nanowires) is not clearly understood and several phases depending both on the starting material and the preparation treatment are proposed.

In this contribution, X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy structural investigations of TiO2 nanotubes and nanowires prepared by hydrothermal methods are presented. Crystalline structure of TiO2 nanostructures was simulated by using of the Debye formula.

The best agreement between the experimental and calculated X-ray diffraction patterns was achieved for the model of monoclinic TiO2 nanotubes.
