Abstract
An anthology of Ancient Egyptian letters traces a history of letters from the earliest times to Coptic letter writing. There are letters included from all venues of life and from all social strata.
The letters are analysed and commented as individual texts.However, broader observations are made on the character of letter phraseology and on the sociocultural meaning of letter writing.
