Abstract
The contribution summarizes current curricular documents in the Czech Republic, the dividing of material didactic tools and the influence on the educational process. The next part of the contribution is attended to the recommended content of textbooks with the view of key competences and interdisciplinary themes.
Raising didactic value of textbooks was proved by the analysis of textbooks for elementary and secondary schools.
