Growth failure has its cause either in a primary growth plate or a body tissue abnormity, in the regulation processes targeting growth plate or in idiopathic influences. The prenatal and postnatal growth pathology together with the phenotype and the body proporcionality gives an insight into the growth hormone-IGF 1 and post-receptor growth defects mechanisms.
The article describes relationship between genetic influences and a clinical picture of children with the proportionate or near - proportionate growth failure.
