Abstract

The presented book is designed to be the first part of a trilogy Voice - Hearing - Speech. The book aims to cover the full breadth of contemporary conceptions of phoniatry.

The aim of the team of authors is a summarization of the current knowledge of communication disorders, with regard to the changes the medicine has undergone since the issues of the last textbooks. The book is organized according to the common practice.

The general part contains anatomy, physiology, diagnosis and treatment guidelines. The special part keeps the conventional division to the organic and functional voice disorders.

The authors' intent is to enrich the horizons of readers with new relationships in phoniatry, especially in the field of voice therapy, phonosurgery and occupational medicine. The team of authors includes therefore experts from numerus workplaces of phoniatry and related specialties from the Czech and Slovak Republics.

The final work is a synthesis of opinions of these experts, aiming to create a clear and modern textbook.
