Almost all books on algebra which were used before 1930 present algebra more or less as the discipline of polynomial equations and polynomial forms. The last important textbook published in the ninetenth century is the world-renowned Weber's "Lehrbuch der Algebra", some further books of this type were written in the first third of the twentieth century.
Step by step, the new abstract concepts of the structural conception of algebra appear in the textbooks. The real general change is coming with the famous van der Waerden's book "Moderne Algebra".
