Opposite trends in recent developments of the Czech rural landscape and their consequences: abandoned lands and origin of the new wilderness

Abstract

Two opposite trends of the present development of the Czech rural landscape are presented: intensification and extensification. Development of the Czech rural landscape is analysed in relations to pan-European tendencies.

The attention is paid to specific features of the development in river valleys, abandoned lands and origin of the new wilderness.
