Abstract

Social physique anxiety (SPA) - concerns about self-presentation and evaluation involving one's physique - may play an important role in exercise behavior. In this study we focused on SPA in a population of university students participating in sport activities.

Valid Czech version of Social Physique Anxiety Scale was used to determine the level of SPA. Employing one way ANOVA, we found that women are higher in SPA than men.

Furthermore there is significant difference in SPA between women experienced reducing diet and those who did not. The results are discussed in context of sport and exercise programs development and creation.
