Abstract
The essay presents new evidence of the final period in the life of Remedius Prutký, a mid-eighteenth century Franciscan missionary in Egypt, Ethiopia, and Russia. It opens with a review of Prutký's activities during the last few years of his life.
The bulk of the essay then consists of an analysis of documents recently secured and studied in Italy that had never before been considered. These shed new light on Prutký's life and answer questions about the circumstances of his death and the place of his burial, while raising some new questions at the same time.
