Abstract
The Czech Statistical Office and Slovak Statistical Office publish regularly the so called official life tables fro both populations and also for thein regions. For thein construction the same metodology is used.
The metodology is based on the usage of weighted moving average and Gompertz-Makeham fiction (for higher ages). The unknown parameters of the Gompertz-Makeham law are estimated using the King-Hardy method.
The presentation deals with the analysis of strenghts and weaknesses of such a method and describes also several alternatives of its modification taking into account the latest knowledge about the intensity of mortality according to sex and age. The propřed calculation is based on the usage of the newly introduced software application.
Also the differences of results produced by this software and the traditional methods are shown at the national level.
