Abstrakt
The investigation has shown that the consciousness of belonging to the traditional "ethnographical regions", understood as culturally specific areas, is still living and relatively clearly outlined, especially in the southern parts of Bohemia and Moravia. In northern parts of the republic the delimitation of these territories is not so clear (with the exception of Moravian Walachia).
Similarly as in the past, the geographical factor plays the most important role in the delimitation of the boundaries of regions. The questionnaire survey realized in a chosen group of "bearers of local (regional) consciousness", confirmed that the relationship of certain strata of population was (and still is) relatively very intensive.
This is true especially of those groups of members of local communities who display (sometimes for generations) high degree of sedentariness.
