Abstrakt
The aim of the article is to summarize three tensions that have shaped the process of forming aesthetics as a university discipline during the 250-years of its existence, looking at the current form of teaching aesthetics at the Czech and Slovak universities and naming current trends in the profiling of aesthetics towards philosophy of arts and practical art disciplines.
