The Paradox of Acting - On the Situation of Acting

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2011

Abstract

Diderot's paradox of acting was formulated as a discrepancy between what an actor represents and what he in fact experiences. This article brings a thesis that the paradox of acting is a specific situation of doubling actor into experience and reflective position.

So, the actor is active and passive, intentionally targeted as well as dragged by unknown intention. This situation is understood as disengagement of the originator of the experience and the reflexive self.
