Abstract

The case report of a so far untreated obese with type 2 diabetes mellitus lasting for approximately 2-3 years is described. Following the treatment with metformin and sitagliptine the satisfactory compensation was not achieved, during the treatment with glimepiride the compensation ironically even worsened, because the patient got bigger appetite and gained weight.

The treatment with liraglutide (Victoza) lead to a weight loss, a decrease in glycated hemoglobin to 5.6% according to IFCC and better quality of patient's life, who was, among other things, able to improve his compliance with the dietary regimen.
