Comparative analysis of mortality by the regions of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic

Abstract

The work analyses the development of mortality in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic and their regions in 1996-2005. Life expectancy at birth, infant mortality, probability of dying and mortality to the causes of death were used as main indicators of mortality level.

The discussion of differences in mortality level between the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic and between 22 regions of these states follows. The work also tries to clarify the reasons of these differences.
