At first, the empirically oriented study deals with the original version of the generic questionnaire MIQ-SR (Meaning of Illness Questionnaire - Self Report). It explores the meaning of illness for patients by means of five variables:
1. consequences of the illness,
2. type of stress/ absence of feeling of threat, injury, loss/ context,
3. degree of stress /change in feeling of duty/ secondary assessment,
4. illness as a challenge/ positive approach to illness/ motivation/ hope,
5. unexpected feeling of own vulnerability. In the second part of the study it describes the creation of the Czech version consisting of 30 items. In the third part the study summarizes experience with clinical evaluation of the abridged version.
