Abstract

The review of a book including very valuable studies evaluating a phenomenon which started in England, but its main usage is in the USA. Individual contributions try to analyze nature and importance of punitive damages on the one side and reflection from the side of various European jurisdiction, on the other.

In the end of the book find itself a comparative analyses which concludes that punitive damages does not belong to the continental conception of the tort law with its compensative function as a main purpose.
