Abstract
The article is an attempt at comparison of Emil Zátopek's own narrative text about his life story (from 1960), and of four other published texts with different authors who tell the story of E. Zátopek in different times (Fr.
Kožík 1952, O. Pavel 1967, Z. Šupich 1986, Francouz J.
Echenoz 2009). The comparison is based on different text types (a novel, a short story, a report), as well as on different qualities of language and style.
A special consideration is given to different use of newspeak.
