The paper focuses on the fact that the photograph can be considered as a proof of a crime - even if its author didn't plan to picture the crime, because he didn't really see it. That's the origin of the double - semiotic and political - problem of the interpretation of photograph.

This double problem of our expectations is analysed from a double point of view: the Umberto Eco's and the Jacques Rancière's.
