In this contribution the authors surveyed actual contemporary theoretical knowledge concerning the problems of "Repetitive Strain Injury", i.e. the syndrome of repeated overload with special attention to the newly originating term and disorder "Text Message Injury". Moreover, the autors present a pilot study evaluating, with the use surface EMG examination, the start of muscular fatigue in selected muscles of the hand in writing short texting on the mobile phone.
In five probands the autors evaluated muscular activity in m.opponens pollicis, m.flexor carpi ulnaris and m.extensor carpi radialis in the course of three maximum isometric contractions performed before and after fulfillment of the given task - writing 10 texting message, 160 symbols each, on the mobile phone in a specifically defined speed. The result did not prove any start of muscular fatigue in either of the observed muscles in the course of texting writing mobil phone.
