Localities of Dactylorhiza majalis in the surroundings of Sedlčany (Central Bohemia, Czech Republic)
Abstract
Dactylorhiza majalis growing in the meadows in the Sedlčany region was researched. In total 12 localities were recently recorded.
Certainly, more new localities can be found in the future. Endangered species such as Gentiana pneumonanthe, Iris sibirica, Isolepis setacea, Menyanthes trifoliata, Pedicularis sylvatica, Salix rosmarinifolia and Scorzonera humilis were recorded in the researched localities.
In many of them Valeriana dioica accompanied Dactylorhiza majalis. In the past there were numerous localities of Dactylorhiza majalis in the Sedlčany region.
The situation has changed gradually because of meliorations and lack of management. Recently, succession is the biggest problem.
Dactylorhiza is endangered in 5 of the 12 researched localities.
