Herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia: prevention and management

Abstract

The common localization of zoster is on the chest and abdomen, but can also occur on the limbs or cranial nerves. Antiviral therapy in the acute stage shoud be started early, but also treatment of pain.

A serious complication is postherpetic neuralgia.
