David Gans and Yom-Tov Lipmann Heller: Two Prague Jewish Scholars of the Late 16th and Early 17th Centuries

Abstract

The paper analyzes the limits of tolerance between Jewish and non-Jewish environement and among different strata of Jewish society itself in late-Renaissance Prague. At the center there are biographies of two major Prague-related Jewish scholars, Rabbi Yom-Tov Lipman Heller and the historian and astronomer David Gans.
