The article "Karel Capek and Semiotic" is dedicated to the confrontation of a Czech writer and thinker with the basic ideas of semiotics. It shows how, in his time, Capek anticipated the post-structuralist criticism of classical opinions in semiotics.
The second part of the article is focused on the problem of the semiotic construction of Capek's fiction from the perspective of Peirce's semiotics and Kant's aesthetics
