Abstract

Historical facts that resulted in creation of quantum mechanics and necessity of the probabilistic description of measurement, wave function and quantization are summarized in the introduction. It is followed by detailed discussion of the postulates of quantum mechanics, their meaning and the Schrodinger equation.

In contrast to other textbooks, mutual relation of classical and quantum mechanics that makes possible deeper understanding of quantum theory is discussed in great detail. Uncertainty relations including recent results on the uncertainty relations sharper than the Heisenberg uncertainty relations are discussed in detail, too.

Free particle, potential well with finite and infinite depth, harmonic oscillator, anihilation and creation operators, momentum and hydrogen atoms are also discussed. Foundations of relativistic quantum mechanics and theory of spin are also established.

At the end, the most important mathematical results and physical constants are summarized. A large number of solved problems and long list of references helps the readers in further studies.
