Abstract
The book analyzes the ways of representing the city and disctinctive city spaces in modern Czech and international literature of the era of modernism, avant-garde, and postmodernism. It focuses on the anthropological symbolism of the city space and on the relationship of distinctive city spaces of the actual world and fictional spaces of the same names as they appear in fictional texts.
Next to that, sociological aspects of such literary representations are considered and interpreted.
