Abstract

The article stands on the intersection between educational application and methodological reflection of the use of the Oral History method in the teaching of Czechoslovak history of the period 1968-1989. In the introduction the author formulates his opinion on the importance of memory in history education at Czech schools.

In the following description of the project Velké a malé příběhy moderních dějin, carried out by the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes in Prague, he focuses on the methodological basis and structure yet completed three years of the project. In the final part the author considers the possible analysis and interpretation of the material and focuses on particular issues of the relationship between family and cultural memory.
