The Martyrdom of Polycarp and the Passion Narrative

Publication at Protestant Theological Faculty |
2011

Abstract

The Martyrdom of Polycarp - an account of the martyr's death of Polycarp, bishop of Smyrna (ca. 155) - became a model text for the arising martyrological genre with many allusions to the Passion Narratives. In the monography, a literaly analysis of the narrative elements is offered.

The Greek text is included, together with a new Czech translation and a commentary.
