Didactical environments Stepping and Staircase

Abstract

A scheme-oriented teaching strategy based on developing mental schemas (Hejný et al., 2007) has been systematically studied at the Faculty of Education. Its main tools are didactical environments (substantial learning environments, see Wittmann, 2001).

The focus of the contribution are two arithmetic environments that we use for learning operations with natural numbers, negative numbers and as a preparatory vehicle for equations.
