Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma stimulates 11 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 in rat vascular smooth muscle cells

Abstrakt

The study demonstrates that activation of PPARgamma in vascular smooth muscle cells up-regulates vascular 11HSD1and thus reactivates 11-oxo metabolites to biologically active glucocorticoids. The data provide one of the possible explanations for PPARgamma-agonist's effects on the cardiovascular system.
