Abstract
Monography Things of Time, Things of Art is based on a large large and unique private collection focused to all three phases of the development of Group 42. The unique works from 1930's show the difference of young artists from the established Czech Surrealist Group.
The classic civilist period of the war group activity (1942-1945) opens problematics of the selfexpression in the difficult occupation conditions, and the last period (1945 - 1948) points to the development of an abstract thinking and searching for the sign expression. Book doesn't repeat the stereotypical story of Group 42, but tries to bring a new analysis and interpretation of its artists's creativity.
