Abstract
Translation of the collection of essay dedicated by Umberto Eco to the general significance of literature, intertextual irony, anxiety about literaly influence, aforism and paradox. Eco also examines a number of major authors from the Western canon: Dante, Cervantes, Borges, Nerval, Joyce.
